🏰 MEANWHILE, AT MAULSWORLD CASTLE: A VISITOR FROM THE HEAVENS!
The morning races have concluded at Maulsworld Dirt Track.
The Muscle Mechanic is inspecting the race cars when a tremendous shadow passes over the Royal Garage.
THE MUSCLE MECHANIC: “What in the world was THAT?!”
The Dogfather looks skyward.
THE DOGFATHER: “That’s no airplane!”
A magnificent blue-and-gold Pegasus descends gracefully into the courtyard, his great wings shimmering in the sunlight.
The Royal Guard immediately assembles.
THE CAPTAIN: “IDENTIFY YOURSELF, MYSTERIOUS FLYING CREATURE!”
Pegasus lowers his head respectfully.
PEGASUS: “I am Pegasus, traveler of the heavens. I come in friendship.”
The Viking rushes forward.
THE VIKING: “A WINGED WARHORSE! MAGNIFICENT!”
PEGASUS: “I am no warhorse, good warrior. I belong to neither armies nor kings.”
THE VIKING: “THEN YOU HAVE NEVER MET OUR EMPEROR!”
As if summoned by the remark, His Imperial Fluffiness appears wearing his racing helmet.
THE EMPEROR: “WHAT IS ALL THIS COMMOTION?!”
He spots Pegasus.
His eyes widen.
THE EMPEROR: “A FLYING HORSE?!”
THE DOGFATHER: “Yes, Your Majesty.”
THE EMPEROR: “WITH ACTUAL WINGS?!”
THE MUSCLE MECHANIC: “That’s generally how flying horses work.”
THE EMPEROR: “SPLENDID! MY NEW ROYAL AIR FORCE HAS ARRIVED!”
Pegasus regards the enormous orange tabby.
PEGASUS: “And who might you be?”
THE EMPEROR: “I AM HIS IMPERIAL FLUFFINESS! SUPREME RULER OF MAULSWORLD CASTLE!”
PEGASUS: “How delightful. And what exactly do you rule?”
The Dogfather coughs.
THE DOGFATHER: “Mostly the breakfast schedule.”
THE EMPEROR: “I HEARD THAT!”
Queen Cat Mom approaches, wearing her heart-shaped sunglasses.
QUEEN CAT MOM: “Welcome, Pegasus. We’re honored by your visit.”
Pegasus bows gracefully.
PEGASUS: “Your Majesty. It is a pleasure to meet someone of such obvious wisdom.”
THE EMPEROR: “YES! MY QUEEN IS VERY WISE! SHE MARRIED ME!”
QUEEN CAT MOM: “Darling…”
THE EMPEROR: “…YES, DEAR.”
The Emperor circles Pegasus thoughtfully.
THE EMPEROR: “TELL ME, NOBLE STEED, HOW FAST CAN YOU FLY?”
PEGASUS: “As swiftly as the wind.”
THE EMPEROR: “AND DO YOU OBSERVE SPEED LIMITS?”
PEGASUS: “The heavens have no roads.”
The Emperor gasps.
THE EMPEROR: “NO ROADS?! NO SPEED LIMITS?! DOGFATHER, CANCEL MY RACING CONTRACT!”
THE DOGFATHER: “Absolutely not.”
THE EMPEROR: “PEGASUS! I SHALL REQUIRE IMMEDIATE TRANSPORTATION TO THE ROYAL TUNA MARKET!”
Pegasus folds his wings.
PEGASUS: “I am a free creature, Your Majesty. I carry no passengers merely because they command it.”
THE EMPEROR: “WHAT IF I OFFER YOU A TITLE?!”
PEGASUS: “No.”
THE EMPEROR: “A CASTLE?!”
PEGASUS: “No.”
THE EMPEROR: “UNLIMITED TUNA?!”
Pegasus pauses.
PEGASUS: “Do you offer everyone tuna?”
THE DOGFATHER: “It’s his entire diplomatic strategy.”
PEGASUS: “How fascinating.” 😂
The Queen smiles.
QUEEN CAT MOM: “Pegasus, perhaps you’d enjoy watching this afternoon’s races.”
PEGASUS: “I would be delighted.”
THE EMPEROR: “EXCELLENT! THEN I SHALL RACE YOU!”
THE MUSCLE MECHANIC: “Your Majesty, you barely reached fifteen miles per hour this morning.”
THE EMPEROR: “THAT WAS A STRATEGIC CONSERVATION OF SPEED!”
Pegasus spreads his magnificent wings.
PEGASUS: “Then perhaps, little Emperor, we shall begin with a lesson in humility.”
The Emperor looks offended.
THE EMPEROR: “LITTLE?! HAS ANYONE EXPLAINED MY ROYAL DIMENSIONS TO THIS HORSE?!”
QUEEN CAT MOM: “Darling, I believe he understands perfectly.”
And for once, the entire Royal Court agrees. 😂
